What is E.L.S. for 55/57 and 6000 Series Unions?

E.L.S. stands for Extended Life Seals.  Depending upon union model, it may be Tungsten Carbide/Ceramic, Silicon Carbide/Silicon Carbide or a varity of other hard seal face combinations.  E.L.S. unions are suitable for unfiltered media due to the resistance to abrasion and wear that may be caused by suspended particulates in the media.

What is Standard Seals for 55/57 and 6000 Series Unions?

Standard Seals consist of a softer sacrificial seal sealing against a hard seal such as Carbon Graphite/Carbide, Bronze/Carbon Graphite, Carbon Graphite/ Silicon Carbide, Carbon Graphite/ Ceramic, Carbon Graphite/Tungsten Carbide, etc.

Standard Seals are preset combinations by Model and are not user selectable.

Standard Seals should be the preferred seal unless the media is unfiltered. For unfiltered media, E.L.S. is recommended.
