Tool and Fixture Maker

The Tool & Fixture Maker performs duties to produce, repair or modify high precision tooling, fixtures or chuck jaws using a variety of different raw materials or existing parts.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Operate and understand manual lathes, mills and CNC mills.
  2. Construct fixtures and chuck jaws to blueprint specifications on Manual and CNCequipment.
  3. Repair Tooling, fixtures or chuck jaws as needed.
  4. Possess knowledge of work holding methods on Lathe and mill.
  5. Read and interpret blueprints to perform job functions.
  6. Inspect and be responsible for quality of all parts produced.
  7. Work at a high level of productivity and quality.
  8. Possess good math skills including basic trigonometry to configure tools.
  9. Operate a variety of precision measuring tools including Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, and gauges as well as hand tools.
  10. Able to work independently or in a group.
  11. Obtain and keep in good working condition all required tools.
  12. Ability to use floor terminals to perform job tasks such as punching in and off jobs, reviewing work instructions and drawings, etc
  13. Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  14. Understand and follow all safety rules.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities:

  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine correspondence.
  2. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  3. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Education and/or Experience:

Three to five years related experience and/or training.

Physical Demands:

Continuously lifting or moving light weight material.  Frequently lifting or moving average weight material.  Occasionally lifting or moving heavy weight material.  Occasionally lifting or moving average weight material in difficult work positions.  Able to lift, move, pull, push or carry anywhere from 5 to 50 lbs.
