Quality Engineer

We are seeking a proactive Quality Engineer to support both internal teams and external customers in resolving quality issues, improving processes, and ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. The role focuses on complaint resolution, product qualification, and performance tracking to help the organization meet or exceed its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Reporting to the Quality Manager, this exempt position offers a pay range of $70,332 - $105,498 annually. Pay will be based on experience and qualifications.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary contact for customer quality concerns.
  • Lead investigations and resolution of complaints including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions (8D, 5 Why, etc.).
  • Coordinate and submit customer-required documentation (SCAR, PPAPs, FAIRs).
  • Analyze product returns and suggest design or process improvements.
  • Manage customer quality audits, visits, and ongoing communications.
  • Develop and lead product qualification documentation (Control Plans, Capability Studies, Gage R&R, etc.).
  • Track and report quality KPIs (e.g., PPM, NCRs, response times).
  • Ensure compliance with regulations (RoHS, REACH, Proposition 65, conflict minerals).
  • Maintain documentation such as certificates of compliance and material declarations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across Production, Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Purchasing to ensure issue resolution and upstream compliance.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and communicate impacts internally.
  • Participate in internal improvement initiatives and final design reviews.

Skills AND Abilities

  • Strong experience in root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (RoHS, REACH, conflict minerals).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints with GD&T and use measuring equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, QMS, and ERP systems.
  • Experience using customer portals and platforms such as IMDS, CDX, or SCIP.
  • Working knowledge of standards like ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, and APQP.
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, production-driven environments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar major.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Quality Engineering or Customer Quality in a precision manufacturing setting with machined parts/devices.
  • Green Belt certification or training in Lean Six Sigma preferred.
